I’m pretty behind getting out my latest tallies for the challenges, I’ve been too busy reading! Also trying to get the house in order for my soon hopefully return to the workforce. I will be posting my tallies separately from now on as they are not at the same numbers anymore.

Library Challenge (50+)

33) Moontide Stella Cameron This was an engaging tale (Novella). I enjoyed the sorrowful tale to a happy ending.

34) Stygian’s Honor Lora Leigh I am a huge fan of the Breeds novels. They are steamy. They also have a story, I will advise that its best to read them in order or you’ll be confused. I’m really looking forward to the next one, I’m smitten with Gideon.

35) Haunted Kelley Armstrong I’m a fan of the Women of the Otherworld, just found out its ending with the novel Thirteen. I was bummed. But I have a handful more to read yet. This was a great story, I’ve been curious about Eve and I love that she and Kris are together.

36) Chaotic Kelley Armstrong This was a novella in Dates from Hell. I loved this book and the people I’ve always liked Karl and Hope is sweet. I’m looking forward to more of them.

37) Shield’s Lady Jayne Ann Krentz This was an oldie, but goodie another futuristic book. I’m such a fan of her in this genre. Sometimes in her contemporary the characters get a little boring. Same thing over and over, but here they seem new and different because of the situations.

38) Too Wild to Wed Jayne Ann Krentz This was a charming novel, I really enjoyed it. I think her humor was more prevalent in this one. A definite fun read.

39) Broken Kelley Armstrong I’ve been a fan of Clayton’s, not necessarily of Elena’s from the beginning. So this was a good read. It had a whole new angle and it was a fast paced read.

40) The Case of El Chupacabra Kelley Armstrong I adore Lucas and Sean Nast, so I enjoyed seeing more of him. I hope to read how he resolves his future in future books.

41) No Humans Involved Kelley Armstrong Hands down my favorite book. I couldn’t read it fast enough and I’m still thinking about it. I adore Jaime and Jeremy well, I’ve had a crush so their book couldn’t miss. I can’t say enough good things.

42) Dracula Night Charlaine Harris I am a huge fan of the Sookie Stackhouse books. I was crushed that the last book is coming out in May. I’m not ready to let her go. This was a novella and of course it was fun. Poor Sookie and her nice dresses.

43) Twilight Kelley Armstrong I have to admit that I haven’t been a big fan of Cassandra, but her story needed to be told. I’m glad that Aaron is there for her.

44) Stalked Kelley Armstrong A nice novella about Clayton and Elena’s honeymoon, only they would be bored.

45) Newlydeads Caitlin Kittredge I have a serious girl crush on her. I am such a HUGE fan of her Black London novels. They embody everything that I love. A flawed but awesome man ( a punk rocker mage, my secret fantasy man, well other than the mage part). There’s a subtle romance, but far more gritty urban fantasy. Oh I just gush about these books. I’ve been dying to reread them and I’m holding myself back for the Paranormal Challenge July. Pray that I don’t burst before then!

46) Where the Heart Lives Marjorie M Liu This is a prequel to the Dirk and Steel novels. About the origins, it’s a fun read.

47) A Shared Dream Jayne Ann Krentz This was a fun book and I enjoyed the concept. Two people are drawn into a legend that happened long ago and share their memories through dreams.

48) Personal Demon Kelley Armstrong This is a close second favorite of the collection. It further expands on Karl and Hope’s story from Chaotic. It was a bumpy ride and thrilling to follow along. I’m looking forward to the next novel that continues with them, Living with the Dead

49) Chivalrous Kelley Armstrong This was a novella with all new people based in Australia. I’m super hoping that I see Reese in future books, I want to know what happens with him.

50) The First Day of the Rest of Your Life Rachel Caine This novella made me very curious about the Morganville Vampires series. So I have procured the first two volumes from the library. I’m dying to dig into them, but I have other books that are due soon.

51) Midnight Jewels Jayne Ann Krentz This rather followed in line with her other books, same type of male, rather familiar story. Rather ho-hum in fact.

52) Eclipse Bay Jayne Ann Krentz This is the first of a trilogy. I have loved Rafe from the get go. This was a great read. I’m struggling with the second book, even though I adore Gabe.

53) Desperately Seeking Shapeshifter Jessica Sims One of my favorite books, this was a re read as I started thinking about it and HAD to read it again. I love Sara and Ramsey. She’s had a hard road and he’s a strong silent type. To sum it up all I can say is Huggy Bear.

54) Call It Destiny Jayne Ann Krentz This was a good read, it had a strong story and a fiestier than usual heroine.

55) After Glow Jayne Ann Krentz, writing as Jayne Castle I love her Harmony novels, though this one always takes me the longest to get through. Not that I don’t like Lydia and Emmett and of course Fuzz, but I think with it being the second book with them I’m ready for the story to move on.

So I have reached the challenge at its highest level. I will continue to tabulate my books and post.

Paranormal Challenge

February Angels and Nephelium

1) Archangel Sharon Shinn

My other challenges I’m not doing very well on. I will be starting those rather soon I hope!

What I’m reading right now Silver Master Jayne Castle, The Family Way by Jayne Ann Krentz, Dawn in Eclipse Bay Jayne Ann Krentz. What I have to start next Living with the Dead Kelley Armstrong, Warrior Zoe Archer and Soul Trade Caitlin Kittridge. Also Jevoh’s Angel Sharon Shinn.

With February fast passing I have been wondering what I was going to read for the March Paranormal Challenge its Fey. My fiance gave me an idea of the book Photographing Fairies and I was also thinking about the Iron Codex series by Caitlin Kittridge. She has a new book out that I’m drooling to read.

I have to say that I got a bit bogged down this month and didn’t get near as much accomplished as I wanted. I had hoped to get more of the Samaria series read for the Paranormal Challenge. I’ll read them for me, I’ve been thinking about Jared in the third book, he’s dreamy…

So that’s where I’m sitting currently.

31 Days of Progress – January Wrap Up

This coming a bit late, but better late than never.  January was a fruitful month, I post the  grand totals at the end of the post.

Library Book 50+/Read A Latte 100/Romance Challenge

22) Oracles Moon Thea Harrison Well I had thought Storm’s Heart was my favorite, but this one has taken that title. I loved Khalil and how he was trying to adapt and the story was amazing. Thea Harrison is one of my absolute favorites and I just can’t say enough good things about her.

23) Lethal Rider Larissa Ione Oh how I love her books as well. Again this was my favorite of the series. I loved Thantos, he was all I had hoped for. I’m dying for the final book Rogue Rider. I’m requesting it from the library as I write this! I’m all a quiver.

24) The Undying Heart Zoe Archer This was a first read by a new author to me. I’m still on the fence as to what I thought of it. She writes amazing characters and the story. I just don’t know if I’m buying the premise behind it. It was a zombie book, kind of a first for me. So he’s broken the mind control of the “master”, I can buy that, he swears vengeance, okay I can believe that as well, but he doesn’t breathe and doesn’t bleed, but he’s got working parts, if you know what I mean. Slightly fantastical to me, sure I know it’s a paranormal romance about zombies, but somethings just bugging me about it. I have the rest in the series to read and I’ll see what I think about it more after the rest.

25) True Colors Jayne Ann Krentz An old school this one dated itself as firmly in the 80s. A problem I have with her older books is that the male always thinks he knows best and tries to force his way. Sure I know this was the style then and honestly men still try to get away with it. I have a problem with the overly chatty sensitive men in books too. I don’t always think its real. Granted yes its fiction and romance at that, but I want to buy into it. Books are my mini vacations and frankly I want to drink the Kool Aid while I’m there.

26) Serpent In Paradise Jayne Ann Krentz writing as Stephanie James I adored this book, I loved the people, the setting and the story. It was one I couldn’t put down and I’ll be looking for it to add to my stash. I recommend it.

27) Simon says Bianca D’Arc This was a new author for me again. It was a novella with The Undying Heart. Zombies again but the traditional take on them. I enjoyed it and I’ll look for more of her work. It was a bit steamy, but it wasn’t the whole story. Sure I love the smut, but I want more than that I want a story line and things happening and going on.

28) The Silver Snare Jayne Ann Krentz writing as Stephanie James Ooh another oldie but goodie, I loved this man the way he conducted himself, it totally reminded me of Lord of the Flies a little. I didn’t want it to end, it was divine. I will be looking for this book as well to add to my collection.

29) After Dark Jayne Ann Krentz writing as Jayne Castle I love her Harmony books this is the first one and it opens up a whole new world and culture. All  can say is that I want a dustbunny!

30) Bridal Jitters Jayne Ann Krentz writing as Jayne Castle This was a novella tucked in with After Dark, I love Sam and Virgina, it’s really a charming tale.

31) Test of Time Jayne Ann Krentz I’ve had horses since I was 10 and showed a Quarter horse in halter competition, so one of my biggest pet peeves is when authors get it wrong. She didn’t, but one thing you can’t fault Krentz on is her research. For the record, hay and straw are different. Hay is food and straw is bedding, hay is green, straw is yellow. In my part of the country straw is about $2.25 a bale and hay is at least $5.  Please get it right authors.

32) Thief of Hearts Tess Gerritsen A new author again. it wasn’t a bad book, just not a stand out. It was well written and had a lot going on, just a bit forgettable.

So January totals are 32 out of 50 for the library challenge and 32 out of 100 for the Read A Latte. For the Vampire January challenge I read 4 books. February is Angels/Nephelium. I have books for that. Archangel, Jovah’s Angel, The Allelluia Files, Angelseeker and Angelica by Sharon Shinn. I might get some by Nalini Singh if I have time.

So my plans for the coming month, read, read ,read. Seriously, I’m plowing my way through The Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong. In between that I have a ton of Jayne Ann Krentz from SearchOhio that have shorter loan times that I need to get through. I’d also like to get started on Interview with the Vampire and Gargantua and Pantagruel.  So lots of plans, now just to find th time to squeeze it all in.
